Fully Integrated Equipment Capabilities

By virtue of Aerofab’s comprehensive engineering development and production capabilities, aircraft and gas turbine OEMs can streamline their supply chain for shorter lead times, better quality control and lower costs.

Laser Technologies

Aerofab’s laser department specializes in five-axis laser drilling of effusion cooling holes and five-axis, three-dimensional contour and profile cutting.

• Laserdyne YAG lasers cut and drill various metals up to 1” (2.54 cm) thick, ranging from stainless steel to Nimonic and other super alloys.

• CO2 laser cuts various metals with thicknesses ranging from 0.005” (0.0127 cm) to 0.500” (1.27 cm), depending on the material type.

• CMM inspection and various laser measuring devices ensure optimum quality control.

Nondestructive Testing

Aerofab’s Nondestructive Testing capabilities include:

• Fluorescent penetrant inspection and computed digital radiography. Our two FPI inspection lines are capable of handling larger components using WaterWashable, Level 3 Sensitivity Penetrant

• Our computed digital radiography is performed in a 12' x 12' (3.6576 m X 3.6576 m) exposure vault using a general electric inspection technologies Titan E320 system capable of 320kV. A General Electric rhythm computed digital system creates the digital radiographic images from the storage phosphor imaging plates with capabilities of 1T sensitivity.

• Pressure testing and flow testing

CMM Inspection

Aerofab’s commitment to quality is demonstrated by our use of highly effective inspection techniques and equipment, including programmable CMMs, which range in size from standard to one of the largest available. Our CMMs are equipped with the latest in touch-trigger probe and controller technology to improve both accuracy and speed.

Thermal Spray Coatings

One of the few Tier 1 component suppliers to possess in-house thermal-spray coating capabilities, Aerofab delivers exceptional value.

• Can produce plasma coatings using spray guns able to reach 80Kw, as well as aircraft quality HVOF coatings.

• Years of experience in robotically-automated thermal barrier coating of unique and difficult geometries, such as those inherent in multicurved transition ducts, for example.

• In-house engineering designs and builds effective and efficient masking and tooling as part of customized process development.

• Thermal spray Nadcap accreditation.

• Qualified to spray to specifications for most OEM’s engine manufacturers.

• Full-service Nadcap-approved materials lab streamlines development, production testing and qualification to meet or exceed customers needs.

Machining

Aerofab’s machining centers have expertise in turning and milling stainless steel and nickel alloys  and aerospace-grade heat-resistant super alloys.

• Three-axis and five-axis vertical and horizontal milling and large-diameter vertical turning, as well as conventional CNC milling and turning up to 72" (182.88 cm).

• Long history in machining products for industry leaders in aerospace, land-based turbine and commercial applications.

EDM Machining

Electrical Discharge (EDM) Machining is a non-conventional machining process that further expands Aerofab’s value-added service offering.

• Three four-axis, fully automatic EDMs.

• Can accommodate customer requirements via fast hole, Ram, CNC Ram, and Wire techniques.

• Capacity for unattended running 24/7 facilitates more hours of machining time to deliver faster turnaround for customers.

Heat Treating & Brazing

• 60-inch (152.4 cm) bottom loading vacuum furnace capabilities

• 45-inch (114.3 cm) horizontal load vacuum furnace capabilities

• 20-inch (50.8 cm) horizontal load vacuum furnace capabilities

• Localized heat treat capabilities

• Air heat treating

• Torch brazing

• Vacuum brazing

Metal Forming

A full range of metal-forming capabilities meets virtually any customer requirement.

• Cold form, hot form, expanding, rolling extruding and sawing of metals ranging from titanium to stainless steel.

• Cold form presses from 500 ton to 200 ton.

• Hot form presses from 125 ton to 50 ton, with the capability to hot form titanium.

Welding

State-of-the-art, environmentally-controlled welding department with the following capabilities:

• Seam welding

• Tig welding

• Mig welding

• Resistance welding

• Stud welding

• Orbital welding

• Conventional arc welding

Fabrication

Employing conventional and highly advanced equipment, along with a team of skilled craftsmen, Aerofab can produce the most complex sheet-metal formed, welded and riveted assemblies.

• Layout of sheet metal materials from titanium to stainless steel.

• Adhesive application, overlays, aircraft assemblies and laser cutting of different sheet metal configurations.

Water Jet Technologies

Aerofab maintains the most advanced water jet technologies for cutting and drilling of small and large parts.

• Three-axis water jet @ 87,000 psi can cut sheet stock, as well as six- to eight-inch steel.

• Five-axis water jet @ 50,000 psi can cut sheet stock as well as six- to eight-inch steel in a variety of different parts configurations
